Seminars
As a means of promoting interaction among the faculty, each institution will host several speakers from the other institution on an annual basis. The Institut Pasteur typically invites three scientists for to visit simultaneously for several days. The schedule will include a seminar given by the scientists, visits, and discussions with faculty and scientists at Pasteur.
- In 2001 Drs. Virginia Miller (Microbiology), Bill Goldman (Microbiology) and Scott Hultgren (Microbiology) were invited to visit Institut Pasteur.
- In 2002 Drs. Phil Stahl (Cell Biology) and David Sibley (Microbiology) were invited to visit Institut Pasteur.
- In 20003, Drs. Steve Beverely (Microbiology), Michael Caparon (Microbiology) and Sam Stanley (Infectious Diseases) were invited to visit the Institut Pasteur as part of the exchange program. Independently, Dr. Skip Virgin (Pathology) attended a scientific meeting hosted by the Institut Pasteur.
Washington University Medical School typically invites Pasteur scientists individually to St. Louis, sponsored by one or more of the participating Washington University Medical School Departments.
- Invited speakers for 2001 included: Dr. Simon Wain-Hobson (hosted by Microbiology)
- Invited speakers for 2002 included: Dr. Oreste Acuto (hosted by Pathology)
- Invited speakers for 2003 included Dr. Philippe Sansonetti (hosted by Cell Biology and Physiology); Dr. Stewart Cole (hosted by Microbiology).
- Invited speakers for 2004 include: Dr. Jim Di Santos (hosted by Pathology); Dr. Dana Philpott (hosted by Microbiology).
Visits typically will typically extend for at least 2 days and include meetings with relevant faculty and students. Invited scientists will also present a research seminar in one of the departmental seminar programs.
