Short Term Fellowships
Short terms fellowships are available for short visits and travels to either institution. In particular, students are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to visit laboratories working in areas related to either their current or future research interests. Applications willl be considered on a revolving basis. The folllowing materials should be sent to Pascale Cossart and Steve Beverley:
- A letter of request from the applicant, including the rational for
collaboration, a brief description of the experimental goals, and how
it relates to the work in the host laboratory (no more than 3 pages).
- A proposed budget.
- A CV including a list of publications and a reprint of most relevant publications should be included.
- A letter of support / acceptance from the host laboratory.
Applications will be reviewed by both boards; final decisions
will be made by the Paris Advisory board for applicants planning to
work at the Institut Pasteur, and by the St. Louis Advisory Board for
those planning to work at Washington University Medical School.
Long Term Post-doctoral Fellowships
One three year post-doctoral fellowship (45,000 dollars per year
plus 15,000 dollars for the receiving laboratory) is offered by the
Pasteur Foundation to an American citizen from Washington University
Medical School to accomplish a post-doctoral training at the Institut
Pasteur in the framework of the Saint Louis Pasteur program.
Applications should include:
In 13 copies
- A letter of request from the sponsoring head of the host laboratory
or unit at the Institut Pasteur. The first step is to identify a host
laboratory so that he or she may serve as your sponsor; a list of
Institut Pasteur laboratories and units may be found here

- The candidate's CV (2 pages), a list of publications and a synopsis of scientific accomplishments (3 pages).
- A brief description of the research program to be written by the candidate (3 pages), with emphasis on how this relates to the work in progress in the host unit or laboratory. This program must be put in the context of the international competition (with three key-references), mentioning the objectives, the experimental strategy and the feasibility of the project.
- A summary of the research program (15 to 20 lines).

- An identity photo,
- Reprints of candidate's most significant publications (1 copy of each),
- 2 recommendation letters, plus a justified advice from the head of Department (Institut Pasteur) to be sent separately to the Direction de l'Évaluation Scientifique*.
